This service may be suitable if you:

• Have any of the signs above
• Are 12 or older

This isn’t suitable for severe or cystic acne, acne with scarring, or presentations that would benefit from a dermatologist referral.

Acne treatment plans are individually assessed, and what’s appropriate can change as your skin responds over time.

Your pharmacist will assess your individual suitability, including your relevant medical history and current symptoms, before proceeding. 

This consultation is only suitable for mild to moderate acne — severe, cystic, or scarring acne needs assessment by a GP or dermatologist. 

Ask your pharmacist for the relevant Consumer Medicines Information (CMI) if a medicine is provided.

During Your Consultation

Your pharmacist will assess your skin and acne severity, and discussyour skincare routine and possible triggers before determining whethertreatment can be provided.

The consultation may also include a prescribed treatment plan whereappropriate, or a referral to your GP or a dermatologist if your acne is moresevere.

What counts as 'mild to moderate' acne?

Your pharmacist will assess this at consultation - as a guide, it generally means a moderate number of blackheads, whiteheads, and inflamed spots without significant scarring or cysts.

Can I be prescribed medicine for acne this way?

In some cases, yes, under the pharmacist's expanded scope authority - this will be discussed with you at consultation.

What if my acne is severe or leaving scars?

Your pharmacist will refer you to your GP or a dermatologist, since this is outside the scope of this consultation.
